The monkey looked on edge, eying my camera nervously. We were already dangerously close, but I crept closer, leaning the lens toward his face. I knew that these Indian monkeys could easily rip a hole through your face if they felt so inclinedand they were likely carrying some horrible disease. But right now, I was feeling pretty invincible. The little claw reached out, as if to tap the lens, but when I pulled away, it didnt let go. The lens, made of solid metal, snapped clean off the front of the camera, and flew out into oncoming traffic. I barely had time to worry about itthe monkey got a running start and lunged at my face, claws outstretched, teeth bared.
