The event was MC'd by Oscar-nominated actress Anne Archer, with official delegates from around the world in attendance. Mr. Hans Janitschek, President of the UN Society of Writers, was the keynote speaker and presenter of the award. He termed these PSA's, "not just public service announcements, but expressions of life and jewels of insight into human beings."
As he placed the award around Lexton’s neck, Mr. Janitschek told him, "It is your ability to understand what these human rights are protecting, your ability to see and depict the humanity of man in each one of these pieces that makes them so precious."
Mr. Lexton, who graciously accepted the award, stressed the importance of recognizing young artists as a way to encourage them to use their art as a voice for creating social change.
